Auburn has a wide range of recreational parks, walking trails, bike trails and premier athletic facilities. Auburn is one of 150 US cities to be named a bicycle friendly community by the League of American Bicyclists and remains the only Bicycle Friendly Community in Alabama with more than 44 miles of bike paths. The town has over ten parks, all with various features and there are many other recreational attractions located outside the city limits within 25 miles; such as Lake Martin, a popular destination for water sports and vacations. There is an abundance of sporting facilities for people to enjoy year round, along with six golf courses for the avid golfer.
